At Soul Fire Farm, I learned about how African women braided seeds into their hair preparing to survive after the Middle Passage. Inspired by their resilience, I created this 24”x36” painting to show how women of color continue to be held and protected by ancestral energy that paved a path of freedom for women across the Diaspora.
